MMDB Ultimate Parser

Compare & Verify GeoIP2 / MaxMind Databases with 100% Local Binary Parsing

A professional-grade tool for inspecting, comparing, and verifying MaxMind DB (MMDB) geolocation database files. MMDB Expert performs 100% local binary parsing to analyze GeoIP2 databases, detect coordinate drift, compare metadata changes, and verify IP geolocation accuracy. Essential for DevOps engineers, network administrators, and anyone working with IP geolocation services.

Help & FAQ

Is my database or IP list uploaded anywhere?

No. MMDB files and IP lists are read and processed locally in your browser and are not sent to our servers. Like any website, this page loads analytics and advertising scripts, and the optional location map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap only after you click "Show map".

Which databases are supported?

Any database in the MaxMind DB format (.mmdb), such as GeoLite2 or GeoIP2 City, Country and ASN. The business view assumes GeoIP2-style fields (country, city, location); for other schemas use the raw JSON view.

What do "Matched" and "No record" mean in Batch Lookup?

Matched: the IP is valid and the database holds a record for it. No record: the IP is valid but the database has nothing for it. Entries that are not valid IP addresses are listed separately with their original line numbers.

What are the limits?
  • Batch Lookup and Version Comparison: up to 10,000 entries per list; batch input files up to 5 MB.
  • Version Comparison: 2 to 5 databases, 400 MB in total.
  • CIDR Lookup: up to 1,000 networks per query.
How is the risk level in a comparison decided?

Every database is compared with the first one (the baseline). A country change is Critical; a region or city change, or a coordinate shift over 100 km, is High; a time zone change, or a shift between 10 and 100 km, is Medium; everything else is Unchanged. Each change type can be switched off.

Why is the city empty for an address like 8.8.8.8?

Free GeoLite2 data is often country-level for anycast and infrastructure addresses. A record can have a country but no city or coordinates.

Why does CIDR Lookup say "Host bits are set"?

The network address must have all host bits set to zero, for example 8.8.8.0/24 rather than 8.8.8.5/24. Nothing is corrected silently; the message shows the address you probably meant.

What does the Inspector measure, and what is sampling?

Metadata, structure checks and search-tree statistics are always complete. Coverage by country and the consistency checks decode a sample of about 50,000 networks, spread evenly over the address space, unless you tick "Full analysis".

Where is the history stored?

In your browser's IndexedDB, up to the latest 300 entries. You can delete single entries or clear everything in the History tab.
